USS Alexander Hamilton

REUNITING SHIPMATES OF THE USS ALEXANDER HAMILTON, SSBN 617

Loading stores during our stop at New London, CT - Flooding Topside!

Somewhere between 1980 and 1984 we pulled into New London, CT for a Dependants Cruise. We loaded stores while we were there. It was so refreshing to see brand names of food we had actually heard of (as opposed to things like "Glove Kid" Peanut Butter, "Mister Naas" ketchup, etc. that we got in Scotland). We had pallets and pallets of food topside when the 1MC announcement said "Prepare to Snorkel". With that the blowdown of the diesel exhaust commenced. It was still full of seawater and we all got a nice saltwater shower - along with all of that food on the pallets!
